A marathon reading of Frank Stanford’s The Battlefield Where The Moon Says I Love You

https://battlefieldmarathon.wordpress.com/

A marathon reading of Frank Stanford’s 15,283-line epic poem The Battlefield Where The Moon Says I Love You.  Organized by Conrad Lochner, the plan is to celebrate the poetry and life of Frank Stanford beginning on July 30th, carrying on to the Eve of his birth on July 31st.

Last year’s The Maximus Poems marathon, hosted by Mellow Pages Library (RIP) and Molasses Books, was a momentous, transcendent occasion that took on a life of its own through a powerhouse reading lasting 14 hours and included renditions from Byron Coley, Paul Rom, Steve Dalachinsky, Yuko Otomo Camillo DiMaria, Danniel Schoonebeek, Mitch Manning, Gregory Corso, Simona Blat, Maxine Cooper and many others.

We are currently looking for readers to perform/read or contribute at this year’s marathon.  The program is very loose at the moment, but the potential could be endless.  We are open to interpretations of the text whether in translation, musical accompaniments, multimedia, publications, etc.  Please feel free to email Conrad, at swineherder@gmail.com with any questions or comments.
